Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 2 April 2009

In the name of ‘progress’

• ON Sunday March 22 I cycled past Centre Point tower and was saddened to see the pool and fountains dry and hoarded-off ready for demolition.
Crossrail and their architects are making a big mistake, the fountains (not necessarily the pool) should be reinstated in the new hard landscaped plaza, their life and sparkle will be sadly missed in a tacky overcrowded area dominated by traffic.
It is incredible that Crossrail has the power to sweep away such important assets in the name of “progress”.
New Journal’s idea of their relocation to Whitestone Pond is a last resort, because I feel that they are more suited to the city location for which they were designed.
