Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 26 March 2009

We have no plans to sell off sports centre

• I WAS surprised and concerned to read the alarmist letters from residents protesting about what they feared would be the “planned sell-off of Talacre sports centre” (New Journal, March 19).
I can assure residents that there are no plans whatsoever to sell-off Talacre sports centre.
We are simply taking a very early look at whether we could improve the operational management set-up of the centre and the gymnastics club.
There are no plans to cut 11 posts from the gymnastics team.
We are committed to making sure Talacre is fit to face the challenges of the future and can continue to provide a great service for local people.
All that is being reviewed is whether the operational management of the centre should be taken on by GLL, in the way that all Camden’s other sport centres are managed.
