Final farewell: Kelly and Alex on target in Gunners’ League Cup win

DEPARTING duo Kelly Smith and Alex Scott enjoyed scoring send-offs on Thursday when they helped lead Arsenal Ladies to a thumping League Cup win.
The pair, who join up with their new club Boston Breakers this week, were on song as Vic Akers’s side lifted the prestigious trophy for a 10th time.
After hitting a first-half brace, Smith completed her hat-trick in style on the hour mark to put the Gunners firmly in the driving seat.
The script became even more perfect minutes later when Scott darted on to Smith’s through-ball before lifting her shot beyond the keeper.
Ciara Grant added her name to the score-sheet late on to wrap up an emotional evening.
