Man found floating in the canal

A REVELLER who fell into icy water in Camden Lock after a day out partying with friends died after a two-week battle for life.
Thomas Barnett, 22, fell into the canal at around 6pm on Saturday, February 7, after spending the day with friends in a nearby bar. His floating dreadlocks were spotted by two passing Police Community Support Officers who attempted to rescue him.
An inquest into his death was opened at St Pancras Coroner’s Court on Tuesday.
Mr Barnett had been in a “near-death state” when he was pulled from the water, but officers managed to recover a pulse after giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and heart massage.
A cause of death has not yet been ascertained, and investigators involved in his death are away until later this month, the court heard.
His body has been released for a cremation ceremony.
The inquest was adjourned until May.
