Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 5 March 2009

Dangers of a ring of steel

• THERE is a footpath that leads from Hampstead Road by Gillfoot to Barnby Street. It was there when I moved to the area in 1973, yet it seems that soon it will no longer exist.
Steel gates are being erected at the Hampstead Road entrance and at the Barnby Road end, this will close the right of way to all. It will mean in particular that school children from the Regents Park estate, who go to St Mary’s and St Aloysius schools in Somers Town, would have to take a large detour along dangerous roads to get there.
If the council wish to throw a ring of steel around the Ampthill estate, why should it include this right of way?
