Young blades look sharp at British Sabre Championships

JUBILANT duo Curtis Miller and Soji Aiyenuro were crowned champions at the British Youth Sabre Championships at the weekend in Stoke.
Olympic hopeful Miller (pictured), who lives in Holloway, defeated Sam Brightman 15-13 in a
nail-biting final to lift the boys’ under-18s trophy.
There was double success for Camden Fencing Club when team-mate Aiyenuro, who lives in Belsize Park, stormed to a 15-10 victory over Henry Walker to win the boys’ under-16s category.
It proved a fruitful age-group for the Camden contingent, with Fabio Artesi winning bronze, Waldo Ramsay doing well to reach the final eight and Gianfranco Artesi making the last 16.
The boys’ under-14s division was just as successful for the club.
Jack Horrix won a deserved silver medal after being narrowly beaten in the final.
And Joshua Allen proved a strong contender in the final eight.
Rubin Amsalem
and William Moore both qualified for the last
16 – and there was a creditable performance from Josh Spoor, who made the final 32.
In the girls category, Izabela Sosnowska and Alex Hamilton-Holbrook were both in outstanding form as they won bronze medals in their respective under-16s and under-12s competitions.
There were also impressive displays from Emma Horrix and Alexandra Sosnowska.
