Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 15 January 2009

‘Manifesto’

• THE letter from Abbi Greene (No midwinter cheer for our gloomy High Street, January 8) refers to Camden Town Unlimited as “self-appointed” and suggests it would be great if CTU “would fight for the south end of Camden High Street too”.
CTU was elected, by a majority of 84 per cent, by businesses in the area with a rateable value of £40,000 per year or above, in April 2006 to serve a five-year term.
Our “manifesto” includes initiatives to cut crime, to promote the area and to improve the public realm. Among other projects, we launched a £10million streetscape project in September 2007, which specifically includes the south end of Camden High Street and Cobden Junction. Thanks to the council, we hope to see the first part of this work begin this year in High Street North.
