SHOCK EXIT OF PARKING FINE CHIEF

Council claims new supremo made ‘errors of judgement’

A PARKING chief brought in to make Camden’s warden service fairer has left the Town Hall amid council claims that he made “errors of judgement”.
John Meyer’s appointment was celebrated last year as an opportunity to bring in a star performer to reform the service which is collecting £4million less than expected from parking tickets.
But last night the department was described as “volatile and demoralised” after the sudden parting of company between Mr Meyer and the council.
The Town Hall confirmed yesterday it investigated an anonymous allegation that Mr Meyer had awarded himself a permit that allowed him to park on yellow lines across Camden – but officials stressed that their inquiry did not lead to disciplinary action and the matter is closed.
The Town Hall’s top brass had previously told staff they expected him to be in the post at least until June 2009, and Mr Meyer had relocated to Camden so he could be close to the action.
Mr Meyer declined to comment last night (Wednesday). > click here for full story
