Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 8 January 2009

Who are your friends?

• I WOULD like to ask Nandita Dawson (Horrors facing our friends in Gaza, December 31): who exactly are your friends?

Where exactly is Abu Dis? Is it in Gaza or the West Bank? If the former, then the “friends” are Hamas, whose declared aim is to destroy the democratic state of Israel.
If it is in the West Bank, then it is under the control of the Palestine Authority Fatah, whose President Abbas is at present negotiating a peace treaty with Israel which is a sensible policy and can only enrich the chances for peace .
The enmity between Hamas and the Palestinian authority is well known and Hamas came into existence amid the bloody fighting between two factions.
Furthermore, last week 35 Fatah members were killed by Hamas and 75 shot in the legs to try to stop them from helping Israel.
