OAP hit by car at ‘blackspot’

A 70-Year-old man was critically ill in hospital last night (Wednesday) after he was run over while crossing a road in Bloomsbury on Tuesday.
The pensioner was hit by a car near a pedestrian crossing in Tavistock Place, close to the junction with Marchmont Street, at 9.55pm.
Diners in the Hot Chilli restaurant rushed outside to help the man before an ambulance arrived.
Police are investigating the incident.
King’s Cross councillor Jonathan Simpson said residents’ groups had expressed concerns over the safety of the junction in recent months.
A Camden Council spokesman said: “We are very concerned and saddened that such a serious accident has occurred at a junction with a below-average accident record. We will carefully review the police report once they have completed their investigation into the cause of the accident.”
