A police forensic tent the scene of the attack in Chalk Farm

High Street knife attack leaves BBC composer in critical condition

A 31-year-old man is critically ill in the Royal London hospital after he was stabbed in a Chalk Farm street in the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednesday).
The victim, thought to be a BBC music writer and graphic designer from the Queen’s Crescent area in Chalk Farm, was found by police in Ferdinand Street at 2am and rushed to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.
A trail of blood stretching around the block led from the scene outside the Barfly venue in Chalk Farm Road to outside a block of flats almost 50 feet away.
Police tents were set up at the two locations.
Residents of nearby Kent House, in Ferdinand Street, were woken as ambulance crews treated the man and found a forensic team examining the street for evidence this morning.
Rachel Lea, 40, said: “They covered the main areas with a tent but there was blood all over the pavement.”
Last night detectives were hunting for the weapon used in the attack. No arrests had been made.
A Camden police spokeswoman said: “We are keeping an open mind regarding any motive”.
