Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 27 November 2008

Politics of post offices

• I’M sure, like me, many of your readers will have been surprised to read about the current MP’s sudden backing for our post offices.
He says the Post Office is an “excellent public service” (Post offices’ future may be safe, November 20).
So it is. But actions speak much louder than words. The time for him to take a stand for our post offices was in March of this year, but instead Frank Dobson voted with the government to continue Labour’s post office closure plans. This led to the loss of Crowndale Road, Englands Lane, South End Green and Highgate High Street branches.
Perhaps after his change of heart Mr Dobson will consider backing Lib Dem MP Lynne Featherstone’s calls for Highgate post office to be reopened, and will fight to reopen Crowndale Road, South End Green and Englands Lane too.
