Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 27 November 2008

Cruel luxury

• FRENCH markets are opening up in various areas of the borough and giving a welcome degree of diversity and colour.
I am, however, disturbed to note most of them are selling fois gras and hope people will refrain from buying this cruelly produced luxury.
In the weeks prior to slaughter, geese are force-fed through a metal tube with 6lbs of maize a day, the same as feeding a person with 28lbs of spaghetti a day.
It is thus a cruelly produced and very unhealthy food.
