Dominic leads 15-medal splash for Anaconda
MEMBERS of Anaconda Swimming Club continued their blistering start to the season at the weekend when they scooped 15 medals at the Middlesex County Autumn Development meet. Dominic McLoughlin once again led the way as he smashed club records in the 200m backstroke, the 200m individual medley and the 100m butterfly, and claimed a gold medal in the 100m breaststroke.
Other gold medallists were Poppy Bedwell in the 200m fly, Harley Greer in the 200m freestyle and Ethan Harrington, whose gold in the 200m backstroke added to a series of personal best times.
Ben Bedwell celebrated silver success in the 200m individual medley and the 100m backstroke, while Fred Celul collected a silver in the 400m freestyle and bronze in the 200m breaststroke.
Anaconda’s senior squad swimmers also made waves at the London Region Winter Championships, which were held in Kent.
Brett McLean won silver and bronze in his respective 200m and 100m breaststroke events.
Competing against a strong open age-group, there were also creditable performances from John Rivers, Clare Walton, Leo Kirby and Dominic McLoughlin.
Anaconda’s younger swimmers were not to be outdone as they took to the pool for their first ever gala. Redi Qosja won silver in the 50m fly and bronze in the 200m backstroke.
Isis Hudson, Katie Fitzgerald and Killian Fitzgerald also put in excellent swims.
