Federation football: A taste of glory for Parliament Hill and Hampstead youngsters
SOCCER stars from Parliament Hill school were crowned champions of the girls’ Federation Football League after five weeks of pulsating action at Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park. The Year 8 super squad from the secondary school, which is based in Highgate Road, showed off their silky skills as they overcame rival teams from Camden School for Girls,
La Sainte Union, South Camden Community School and hosts Acland Burghley.
New Camden Sports Ambassador Sasha Kelly was delighted with the title chase. She said: “I’ve seen a big improvement in the standard of all teams who participated, which was demonstrated evidently through the close point scores at the end.”
There was special praise for ex-England and Arsenal star Kirsty Pealling, who runs the league, and head of girls’ PE at Acland Burghley Ruth Howard, who helped organise pitches.
Meanwhile footballers from Hampstead School won the Year 9 Federation Cup, beating sides from South Camden Community School, Haverstock and Acland Burghley.
