‘The most unlikely of comebacks’

Eight-goal thriller at the Emirates sees Spurs snatch a point in the last minute

Premier League
Arsenal 4, Spurs 4

ARSENAL and Tottenham enjoyed an eight goal thriller at the Emirates last night (Wednesday).
Spurs staged a dramatic injury time come back to earn a valuable point after trailing 4-2 with just one minute of normal time remaining.
Arsenal dominated the second half and had built a two goal cushion, but when Jermain Jenas seized on an Arsenal mistake to make it 4-3, it was game on.
Aaron Lennon tucked in a 94th minute equaliser after Luka Modric hit the post.
Former Gunner David Bentley stunned the home fans after 14 minutes with a stunning 40-yard lob. Manuel Almunia was caught back-pedalling and Spurs had the perfect start.
Despite pretty passes and surging runs from Theo Walcott, Arsenal took the lead with two headed goals from Mikael Silvestre and then William Gallas shortly after the restart.
Samir Nasri lifted the ball up over the on-rushing Gomes and Emmanuel Adebayor crashed the ball in from short range to make it 3-1.
“Going down, going down, going down,” sung the home fans, but they were soon silenced after Spurs hit back minutes later. Tom Huddlestone’s torpedo was spilled by Almunia and Darren Bent passed home the rebound with his first touch of the game.
Adebayor was allowed too much space down the left wing and his pass found his strike partner unmarked in the penalty box. The Dutchman blasted home from ten yards.
Spurs were chasing shadows for the last 15 minutes and a sleepy Arsenal defence allowed Jenas to dribble from the half way line and loop a left footer round Almunia – before Lennon capped a dramatic, and highly unlikely, comeback.
