‘It’s time for European title’

Adebayor’s call to team-mates after Gunners thrash feeble Fenerbahce

EMMANUEL Adebayor has sent out a rallying cry to his Arsenal team-mates after declaring that it is time finally to conquer Europe.
The Togolese striker was one of the Fenerbahce five who scored in Istanbul on Tuesday when the Gunners ran out 5-2 winners to consolidate the position at the top of their Champions League group.
Afterwards Adebayor revealed that Arsenal will only be satisfied now by winning the competition this season.
“What we did last season is behind us now. We want to achieve something better than that.
“If you want to go further that really means to win it.
“We have not lost a lot of players. We have only lost Hleb and Flamini, but we have changed them. Nasri and Denilson have come in and are both playing good football,” he added.
Theo Walcott, Abou Diaby, Alex Song and Aaron Ramsey were also all on target as Arsenal became the first team to beat Fenerbahce at home in Europe for more than three years.
Despite the glittering goal rush, the hero of the hour was goalkeeper Manuel Almunia, who pulled off a string of impressive saves to ensure that Arsenal left Turkey with all three points.
The stand-in skipper said: “It was a crazy game. There were so many chances it seemed like a training match.
“The game started well for me with a good save.
It made things easier.
“After that I found the game more comfortable. Personally I had a strange feeling about the match, everything seemed much easier than normal in the Champions League.
“It must have been a great game for the supporters of both clubs.”
