All’s well that ends theatre feud

AFTER weeks of high drama, warring actors at a Kentish Town theatre pub have finally brokered a peace deal.

The Lion and Unicorn, in Gaisford Street, has been the backdrop for a theatrical coup, as two rival theatre companies claiming command of the pub venue exchanged insults and accusations of incompetency.
But yesterday (Wednesday) both sides announced they had “reached a compromise” and agreed they would return to working together, as they had done before the split.
“In this sort of war there are no winners, only losers,” said Victor Sobchak, the venue’s previous leaseholder. “Hopefully the clouds will be gone in a couple of months.”
Under the new deal, George Sallis’s Giant Olive company will take charge of the venue lease. Mr Sobchak will remain as an artistic director and the two men – rivals until yesterday – will work on some productions together, including a Christmas show.
