Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 23 October 2008

I am still waiting to see evidence of a yellow box ‘offence’

I AM trying not to be one of the whingeing brigade who get a penalty charge ticket and then go into a rant…
Yet the junction of Kentish Town road past the Forum, and the way the lights are phased, turns it into something of a nightmare. Vehicles become trapped between the junction on which to proceed (before the box) and after the traffic light which you pass.
A sure-fire revenue generator for Camden and very little to do with safety. If it were, this junction could be redesigned. I do resent the £60 for being caught in a boxed junction, so much so I wanted more evidence of the offence.
The penalty charge notice clearly states that camera evidence is available to view online. Perhaps they could spend some of the fine money fixing this facility. For the past two months this facility on Camden’s website has been “broken”. This was only revealed after much inconvenience on my part, and after checking with the switchboard as to why “invalid numbers” are constantly displayed on the site.
My last request for camera evidence to be sent to me (a right) has so far been met with a letter stating that the council have checked with the DVLA and that I am still the owner of the vehicle. A strange response considering that I never disputed this!
