Che sparks a glut of goals

Camden & Islington Youth League

THERE were goals galore in the Camden and Islington Youth League this weekend with a staggering 97 shots hitting the back of the net at Market Road.
Among the highlights were Hampstead, kicking off their campaign in the Under-9s North Division with a thrilling 3-2 win over Primrose Hill.
Strikes from Joe Johnsson-Antoni and Che Ove-Locraine saw Hampstead go in at the break with a two-goal cushion.
To their credit, Primrose Hill battled back to level the score, but Hampstead hit a late winner when Ove-Locraine grabbed his second of the game.
Hampstead also beat Primrose Hill in the Under-10s League thanks to a single strike from Luke O’Leary.
Meanwhile goals from Lewis Lindsay-Gunn and Callum Vidal saw Hampstead complete a hat-trick of wins over Primrose Hill in the Under-11s League with a hard fought 2-1 victory.
Alfie Costello scored a hat-trick as Isledon Wolves romped to a 5-0 victory over Islington Admiral in the Under-12s ‘B’ Division. A strike from Elijah Alexis-Grunberg and an own-goal completed the rout.
Isledon also beat newcomers Total Football Academy 2-0 in the Under-11s League thanks to goals from Laurie Morton and Liam Bristow. But Wolves were denied an all-winning weekend when they lost 3-2 against Bridge Rovers in the Under-10s ‘B’ League.
Striker Mark Ikua bagged a brace and missed from the penalty spot as Isledon twice came from behind to level the scores.
But in a thrilling encounter, Rovers collected all three points thanks to goals from Nial Jones, Kessua Baxe and Josh Edwards.
Islington and Tufnell Youth picked up one of the biggest wins so far after putting eight past Highbury Rangers in the Under-12s ‘B’ League.
Anthony Kearney Wellington led the charge with a stunning hat-trick, while captain George Dunkley and Ryan Salter scored two goals apiece.
Kane Cummins was also on target in the 8-0 rout.
Elsewhere a new look Lyndhurst side started their season in style with a 4-2 win over Finsbury Park in the Under-14s League.
Tristan Gordon blasted Lyndhurst in front within the opening five minutes, before Harry Morris made the most of a goalmouth scramble to double the advantage.
A slick passing move led to Jason Wanzola slotting home a third as Lyndhurst all but sealed the win before half-time.
In the second-half, Morris scored again as Lyndhurst threatened to run riot. But the next two goals belonged to Finsbury Park, who reduced the deficit to give the final scoreline a more respectable look.
