Bernard Putz Boston out of cup

TEAMS from the Chalk Farm Pool League turned their attentions towards the first round of the Liam Tarrant Knockout Cup on Monday.
The shock of the night saw Bernard Putz lead the Sir Robert Peel ‘B’ team to a resounding 5-3 win over Division One champions the Boston Potters.
On the nearby table there was better fortune for club rivals as Boston Rimmers beat Swiss Scientists 5-3, with the ever-reliable Gary Dugdale potting the winning ball.
Elsewhere, the Whittington Stone gained revenge over Leighton Arms for their recent league defeat with a 5-3 win in the cup.
There were also wins for both the Gloucester ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams, who beat Grafton Arms and Regent’s Park in their respective matches.
Cup holders Boston Arms, newcomers the Holloway and Prince of Wales Dynamos were among 10 teams that received byes into the second round.
