Kim double fires Gunners to cup victory
Women’s Football
League Cup Arsenal 3, Everton 1
GOALS either side of half-time from Kim Little saw Arsenal dump holders Everton out of the League Cup on Sunday at Boreham Wood FC. Karen Carney, who has been linked with a move to newly formed American side Chicago Red Stars, was also on target as the Gunners ran out 3-1 winners.
Arsenal will now play either Millwall or Leicester City away in the next round, which is due to be played on Sunday November 2.
SE Combination League Enfield Town 1, Spurs 0
STRUGGLING Spurs were left with just four points from their opening eight games after slipping to a 1-0 defeat against Enfield Town on Sunday. Tottenham made a bright start against their neighbouring rivals with Jessie Richards forcing Town keeper Jo Ayre into a fine save in the opening minutes of the match.
Enfield were rewarded for some good pressure early in the second-half when they broke the deadlock with a scruffy goal. Spurs looked to be on the verge of pulling the scores level when Nichola Cable unleashed a shot destined for the top corner, but the Enfield keeper made a super save to deny Spurs a share of the spoils.
Greater London League Division Two North
Newham 3, Camden Town 3
TABLE-toppers Camden Town battled back to earn a 3-3 draw away against Newham on Sunday. Trailing 2-0 midway through the first-half, Town pulled a goal back when leading scorer Mary Guest netted her eighth of the campaign.
Newham restored their two goal advantage within minutes, but goals from Caroline Taunton and Carmel Clinton saw the visitors level the scores at 3-3.
Town were denied a winner when Megan Worthing-Davies scored in the final minute of the game, only for the referee to rule that the ball had gone out of play earlier in the move.
Elsewhere rivals Katabella lost 1-0 to Garston Reserves, while Hampstead lost 3-1 to KIKK.
