Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 9 October 2008

Blame must go to Friedman, Thatcher and Blair

CONGRATULATIONS on your Comment, October 2.
We should be more specific about the reasons why “something is wrong about politics today”.
This disaster is the direct result of the cruel stupidity of the Milton Friedman neo-con policies which were forced upon Britain by 18 years of economic rape by Thatcherism and consolidated by 11 years of spineless appeasement by Blatcherism.
They have been consistently wrong – from Reagan’s assertion that “the government is the problem, the market is the solution” to Thatcher’s smugly self-righteous “there is no such thing as society” to the “power without principles” doctrine of the Blairite puppets.
Incidentally, I have not heard much whining by these groups about the current nanny state mollycoddling of the “wealth creators”.
