Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 9 October 2008

Sensible policies and hard work are paying off

GERRY Harrison (Forum, September 18) made some excellent observations on the role and motivations of local councillors.
The Green Party received more support in the London GLA elections from Camden voters than the Liberal Democrats and had a stunning by-election win in Highgate on the same day.
The growth in support for the Green Party is being achieved through the hard work, community activism and integrity that Gerry describes, as well as our sensible polices.
Our candidate for the coming Kentish Town by-election, Victoria Green, has such a record of community service and has no political ambitions beyond being an excellent councillor for Kentish Town ward.
It is also worth pointing out that the councillors in other parties are expected to follow the party line.
We do not operate a dictatorial “whipping” system in the Green Party.
CLLR ADRIAN OLIVER
Green Party, Highgate ward
