Operations delayed after hospital fire

SICK children will have to wait for crucial operations after a blaze gutted part of Great Ormond Street Hospital on Monday.
Seventeen operations were cancelled after an explosion in the cardiac ward shortly after 8.30am.
The fire brigade has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, believed to be an exploding gas cylinder.
Hospital chief executive Dr Jenny Collins said the cardiac wing had been damaged.
A hospital spokeswoman said yesterday (Wednesday): “We have been contacting families to reschedule operations and ensure that we get children in for surgery within 28 days.”
Dozens of children were evacuated as six fire engines and 30 firefighters rushed to the scene. There were no injuries to patients or staff, but four fire-fighters were treated for smoke inhalation.
