Micky Dowsett
Nightmare on Hackney Marshes

REDDOT captain Micky Dowsett had a nightmare on Sunday as his team were held to a 3-3 draw against Cobden Athletic.
The player/manager missed a penalty, gifted Cobden a lifeline when he was caught dwelling on the ball, and scored an own-goal as he endured a torrid 90 minutes at Hackney
Marshes. The Dots raced into a 2-0 lead with goals from Anthony Clark and Paul ‘Trigger’ Reid.
In between the double strike, Dowsett saw his penalty saved by Cobden keeper Martin Halpin after a goal-bound shot from Conor Langton was tipped over the bar by one of the defenders.
Although ref Harry Yannaris saw the handball and pointed to the spot, he failed to produce a red card. Dowsett was then robbed on the edge of his own box, letting in Robert Saint to reduce the deficit.
Kaleb King completed the comeback, scoring from close range to make it 2-2.
Reddot restored their advantage when leading scorer Reid grabbed his second of the game.
In the final seconds Cobden were awarded a penalty. Dots keeper Jimmy Russell pulled off a great double save, only for the ball to ricochet into the path of the onrushing Dowsett, who bundled in an own goal.
After the game Micky said: “I had a complete nightmare.
We were held to a draw against Cobden this time last season and went on to win the treble, so maybe it’s a sign.”
