Architect’s plan for the new house on Sandy Heath
Sandy Heath house will have ‘no impact’ on views

THE architect behind three controversial developments on the fringes of Hampstead Heath has won planning permission to build a fourth luxury home overlooking woods on Sandy Heath.
Robert Adam – dubbed Prince Charles’s favourite architect for his neo-classical designs – will build the new home in the gardens of
Georgian pile Heath House, opposite Jack Straws Castle.
Mr Adam told the New Journal: “It is a very low lying building. The block it will replace looks like a rather unsympathetic swimming pool. We had considerable discussions with Camden Council officers – Camden are not a cavalier authority and this went through the consultation process.
“There will be no impact at all on the Heath.”
Mr Adam is also behind plans to demolish Athlone House on Hampstead Lane, and Fitzroy Farm and the Water House in Fitzroy Park – all of which are schemes that have faced opposition for their impact on Heath views.
