Who gets your vote in the New Journal’s best bar award?

SOME of the borough’s best-known and loved bars, pubs and clubs are in the running to take home the top prize at a glittering award ceremony next month.
It follows the announcement of 28 venues in Camden which have been awarded Best Bar None status – a scheme that aims to cut alcohol-related crime and disorder by recognising well-run establishments.
This is the second year the project has been rolled out across the borough and, for the first time, Camden’s revellers are being asked to choose their top venue.
The Camden New Journal Readers’ Choice is your chance to tell us which is your favourite pub, bar or club – and the venue with the most votes wins.
As the Best Bar None scheme’s media partner, the New Journal is asking you to tell us by post, online or in person by popping in to fill out a coupon at our front desk.
Other prizes being hotly contested are: Best Pub, Best Bar, Best Club, and the Best Bar None Overall Winner.
An extra twist will be added to the proceedings on the awards night, which takes place on October 8 at the Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel in Holborn.
The results will be as much of a surprise to the venues as they are to the judging panel – made up of police, the Town Hall licensing team, a councillor and the fire brigade – because the venues are only known to them by number rather than name.
Ann Brennan, the scheme’s co-ordinator, said all the venues to achieve Best Bar None status deserved congratulations.
“I’d really like to congratulate this year’s accredited venues,” she said. “They’ve worked hard to provide a safe place for their customers to enjoy and have gone that extra mile.”
And she promised the Readers’ Choice was a way of customers getting involved in the project.
“Now we’re giving the customers the chance to lend support to their favourite venue,” she said. “They’ve got their accreditation and we appreciate the effort they’ve made.”
