Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 4 September 2008

Olympic effort

• JOHN Gulliver reports (Mayor Boris’s Olympic effort to budge a Labour Party man, August 28) that I was “invited to the Olympics as a London politician” and he comments: “Nice if you can get it”.
The implication is that I enjoyed a subsidised trip to Beijing.
In fact I visited China as a private citizen during my summer holidays, to watch the sports events and support Team GB, just as I did at the Athens Olympics four years ago.
I paid for my own ticket and stayed with friends in Beijing.
