It’s Somers Town vs West End
THEY faced torrential rain and un-seasonal winds, but footballers from across the borough braved the elements on Saturday to make it to the finals of the prestigious Unity Cup. Just two teams from the 17 who packed into Coram’s Field pitches in Bloomsbury could make the Under-12s grand finals at the Warren Pitch in Whitfield Street later this month.
And after almost five hours of entertainment, including football, music, talent competitions, dance-offs, penalty shoot-out tourneys and prize-giving, the final two teams staked their place. Somers Town (pictured) won through after beating South Hampstead Football Club 2-0 in the semi-finals thanks to goals from Yanick Mungu and Nathan Oduwa. They were joined by West End from Crowndale, who overcame a strong Venue side from West Hampstead 2-1 in a penalty shoot-out.
