Triumphant teams battle through to finals of Youth in Action Unity Cup

TRIUMPHANT teams were celebrating this week having booked their place in the grand finals of the prestigious Camden Unity Cup.
The tournament, organised by Fitzrovia Youth in Action, uses the power of football to help tackle territorial tensions by encouraging young people from various backgrounds to work together to create a safe and welcoming competition.
Celebrating its ninth year, more than 700 youngsters will turn out at community pitches across the borough throughout the month to battle it out for a place in the finals, which will be held at the Warren Pitch in Whitfield Street, Fitzrovia, on Thursday, August 28.
On Monday Hampstead became the first team to book their place in the finals after winning the girls’ Under-16s league, which was held at Cantelowes Gardens on Camden Road. Runners-up Fitzrovia also progressed after winning two out of their three games.
Elsewhere the Camden Sports Development team and the Winchester Project will face each other in the girls Under-13s final after finishing first and second respectively in their league.
Meanwhile Venue FC from Kilburn reached the final of the boys’ Under-14s tournament without conceding a single goal on Tuesday at the Swiss Cottage Sports Centre.
