Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 7 August 2008

Proud film

I WENT to the Camden Town Odeon this week and saw the film Somers Town.
Brilliant acting, excellent directing and those shots of our Somers Town. But if I have any criticism it was that there were no kids in the film; there were few shots of the real bustling Somers Town, perhaps the market on Fridays, or the Somers Town Festival in July; more of the streets; maybe shots of the pubs like the Cock tavern; or shots showing the multi-cultural Somers Town.
Well, the film received great plaudits from the film industry and critics and our beloved Somers Town is known as far away as the USA… pity the local and national policymakers don’t feel the same way or know where Somers Town is.
Well done, Thomas Turgoose and the other actors; and to director Shane Meadows and his colleagues. Made me proud of our area.
