Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 31 July 2008

Africa a continent with so much to teach us

I WAS waiting outside Holy Cross Church in Cromer Street and began a conversation with a young man from Sudan.
He had lost his father and brother in the fighting.
Now, in England, he has dropped out of university where he was studying economics and lives in a hostel.
I told him I love Africa, having been in a group visiting Zaire in 1974, as well as other African countries. I added I love to hear Africans singing.
His reply I cannot forget:
“Africa has so much to give.”
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this polite, gentle, young man were to devote his life (perhaps as a television, radio or newspaper reporter) to telling this to the world?
