Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 17 July 2008

Dalby Street consultations are just an expensive mistake

• WHAT local residents wonder around here is what planet the executives have been living on these past few years?
Don’t they already know that a town green is the right thing for this area without spending taxpayers’ money on expensive consultations? (Executive recognises unique history of gardens, July 10).
In normal circumstances, Councillor Ralph Scott would be right to talk about a “democratic route”; but where did this democratic route fit in when the Dalby Street decisions took place, for example?
We are landed with a monstrous seven-storey building scheme which local residents have persistently opposed and which is more than likely to hinder the growth of the Talacre sports centre. Many fear encroachment into Talacre Gardens due to a scheme too ambitious for the land available.
Protection for the park is needed now. Every day counts when predators are lurking about, ready to pounce into our precious park.
