Cumberland girls sign off with National Trophy

PLAYERS from Cumberland Netball Club signed off in style on Sunday when they won the England Challenge Cup Plate at the National Netball Centre in Loughborough.
Having knocked out teams several leagues above them on the way to the final, Cumberland faced Newcastle Town in a testing final.
Newcastle raced in to two goal advantage, but Cumberland asserted their dominance on the game with a controlled and slick second-quarter to finish the half 10 goals up. Led by players-of-the-match Kirsty Smith and Petra Horvath, the Camden and Islington-based side went on to secure a thrilling 45-35 goal victory.
