Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 12 June 2008

Rail closure will leave hundreds of commuters stranded

• YOUR story regarding the rail closures in September does not tell the whole story (Rail misery, June 5).
When the North London Line closes for nearly three months, Transport for London, London Overground and Network Rail have decided in their wisdom that the otherwise unaffected Watford to Euston stopping service should be diverted away from Euston and towards Stratford.
This will leave hundreds of commuters from Kilburn High Road and South Hampstead stations with no direct link to Euston for the whole period (except the 30-minute interval Sunday service – very useful!), as well as forcing commuters from Queen’s Park and the north onto the already crowded Underground to reach Euston. This will just compound the chaos of the closure of the NLL. I understand that TfL’s plans include making this closure of the line from South Hampstead to Euston a permanent feature in the not too distant future.
Although it is probably too late to get the service in the autumn reinstated to Euston, I hope common sense will prevail and the idea of a permanent closure is scrapped.
