Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 5 June 2008

Was parliamentary news a touch ‘Independent’?

• ON the day of the Crewe and Nantwich by-election a leaflet dropped through my letterbox headed Parliamentary News, Frank Dobson’s Report to Constituents.
Nothing very surprising about that, perhaps, but what was surprising was that it appeared to be from Frank Dobson Independent MP for Holborn & St Pancras.
Apart from one small reference to the Parliamentary Labour Party Civil Liberties Group on page two, it presented a picture of Frank Dobson ashamed to identify himself with the party he was selected by and for whom he was elected MP.
He even managed to present us with a photo of himself with the late Robin Cook rather than a current Labour minister, let alone Gordon Brown.
Come on Frank, does this mean you can no longer bring yourself to call yourself a Labour MP? And if that is the case is it out of conviction or out fear of losing your seat at the next election?
