Youngsters shine in capital’s regional gym championship qualifiers

YOUNGSTERS from Camden Gymnastics Club were back among the medals this week when they competed in the Regional Qualifying Championships in Harrow.
Facing competition from more than 100 primary schoolchildren from across the capital, Ulyesses Arch and Shane Cojocarel both captured gold with perfect presentations to win their age groups.
The medal count continued to climb with Theo Gale winning silver, while Daniel Cheung and Joel Leon Benitez took bronze in their competitions. There were also creditable performances from Issa Francois, Kemi Omoshebi, Dominic Sesto, Hugo Bennetts and Andrew Mason.
Top trio Issa, Dominic and Joel also represented London in the National Finals in Newcastle. Taking on a field of 70 gymnasts, Issa finished 29th to help lead his team to third place overall. Meanwhile Dominic and Joel finished, 28th and 44th respectively in their age group.
