When Wenger’s pretty football is not enough
• IN Steve Barnett’s report (Wenger in Euro 2008 warning, May 15) Arsene Wenger says we have more points and are on the up.
So have our other competitors in the top four.
Arsenal have won nothing for the past three years and will win nothing for the next three years until we turn back to the basics which made us successful, before Mr Wenger decided to play pretty football – nice for the neutrals and our competitors, but not for winning trophies.
Until we have a strong defence, which is the basis of all great teams (just look at Manchester United), we will go on being “the bridesmaid” and not “the bride”.
If not, Mr Wenger, we will be singing the same lament next season.
