Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 22 May 2008

Thanks, Ken

• THIS branch of the Union of Construction, Allied Trades and Technicians shares the disappointment, along with the majority of inner-London voters, at the result of the mayoral election.
Our sincere thanks go to Ken Livingstone not only for his eight years as mayor but as far back as his days as a Camden councillor, leader of the Greater London Council and MP for Brent East.
Ken constantly supported the working people of London. He supported the direct labour departments in building new and refurbishing council housing. He halved the fares on London’s buses.
He gave a platform for the Construction Safety Campaign in its attempt to draw attention to the number of deaths in the industry and for a corporate manslaughter bill.
The list of his achievements is endless. May he continue his good work in whatever capacity he chooses. Good luck. We know we will continue to hear from you.
