Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 8 May 2008

Well done to youth

• WELL done, Youth Council (They say they feel ‘demeaned’, May 1).
They are elected representatives.
In our democracy, that is what matters.
I have twice seen meetings of the council where the (adult) elected members were intimidated by what seemed to me ambiguous or biased “advice” by over-zealous officers (after all, even a legal position, which we know has to follow certain statutory requirements, does at times come with two conflicting views).
Wherever possible it is the elected members who should recognise and take their power.
The adults could well take a lesson from the Youth Council.
