Starving fox cub on road to recovery after rescue

WRAPPED in an old blanket and resting after his ordeal, this is the starving fox cub rescued by park officers.
The distressed baby fox was found in Queen’s Square Gardens, near Great Ormond Street, Bloomsbury, by a member of the public.
He appeared to be dehydrated and in shock.
Park officers Dave Humphrys and Dave Murray rushed to the aid of the poorly creature, giving him shelter and warmth in the Lodge at St Pancras before he was admitted to the Enfield Wildlife Rescue Centre last week.
Mr Humphrys said the cub’s mother had probably been injured or killed in a road accident and the youngster had been unable to look after itself. Although some view foxes as an urban pest, Mr Humphrys said: “It is controversial – most people don’t want them in the city – but when you see an animal in distress you can’t ignore it.”
The cub is on his way to recovery and will be released into a new, safe environment when he is stronger.
