The ‘models’ prepare themselves for the catwalk at Waterlow Park Centre
The ‘models’ prepare themselves for the catwalk at Waterlow Park Centre
Catwalk babies make a pin point over real nappies

ALTHOUGH not quite as svelte and long-limbed as some of their model peers, the babies that graced the catwalk at Nappy Fashion Week on Monday were just as cute.
The youngsters waddled, crawled and smiled their way through a half-hour show at the Waterlow Park Centre in Highgate, modelling the latest in environmentally friendly nappies.
The idea behind the event – held to mark the launch of Real Nappy Week – is to bring the concept of non-disposable nappies to a wider audience.
Statistics on nappy use reveal how eight million are binned every day, with 90 per cent heading straight to landfill sites.
Arthur Nayagam, who is just 10 months old, and his mum Tessa were the first to brave the cameras.
Mrs Nayagam, from Kentish Town, said: “I’ve used ‘green’ nappies since he was born because disposables are awful – they don’t dispose.”
Mrs Nayagam, an IT administrator, said she doesn’t find managing reusable nappies a problem.
“Arthur uses about four to five a day,” she added.
“The washing gets done at night, goes straight on the radiator and is dry again by the next day.”
In the long-run “real” nappies worked out cheaper, she said, even though they required an initial lump-sum investment.
Real Nappy Week ends on Friday.

Parents who sign up now will be given a £54 voucher to spend.
