Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 24 April 2008

Meeting people

• IT seems the Liberal Democrat and Conservative Parties are deeply ashamed of their record running Camden Council.
At the mayoral and London Assembly hustings at Somers Town Community Centre, Labour were represented by Nicky Gavron, incumbent deputy mayor and London Assembly candidate for the area. The Green Party and the far left also supplied speakers.
The Liberals and Conservatives were invited, but declined to send any representative at all.
Presumably they feared questioning about their persistent cuts in Camden’s services for youth and the elderly, and the consequences should they use the same service-cutting policies across London’s transport and housing.
Brian Coleman, defending his Barnet and Camden assembly seat, was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps he couldn’t find a taxi.
