Man stabbed in ‘sword attack’

A MAN was taken to hospital in an air ambulance after he was stabbed in the stomach and head after an alleged attack involving an axe yards from his Kentish Town home on Tuesday.
Armed police sealed off Gaisford Street for over an hour after officers found the 20-year-old being helped by passers-by as he bled on the pavement. The incident took place at around 4pm
Three men aged 20, 21, and 45 were arrested within minutes, one on suspicion of attempted murder.
It is understood that the men were known to the victim, and that a number of weapons were recovered after their arrests.
The terraced street off Kentish Town Road filled with residents returning from work as forensic teams scoured the scene for evidence.
At the crowded cordon next to Hammond Street, Mari Askew said: “It is terrible to see a man just lying there like this when there are kids everywhere in this street. This part of Kentish Town has its problems.”
Police were yesterday investigating the possibility that a sword or axe had delivered the wounding blows.
A Met spokeswoman said: “Police were called to Gaisford Street NW5 to reports of males fighting at the location. Three males have been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”
The victim, who neighbours said lived in Gaisford Street, was described as “stable” in hospital yesterday (Wednesday), while all three men arrested in connection with the incident were in custody at Kentish Town police station.
