Candidates for the Barnet and Camden London Assembly seat

LABOUR: Nicky Gavron. Mother of four with a record on local issues stretching back to her work in the 1970s to fight plans to turn Archway Road into a motorway. An experienced activist who is currently deputy mayor of London. Lives in Archway.

LEFT LIST: Dave Hoefling. Lifelong trade unionist who has been active in tenants and ­residents associations. Has lived in Somers Town
all his life.

CONSERVATIVE: Brian Coleman. Current incumbent who won 33 per cent of the vote last time. He lives in Barnet.

GREENS: Miranda Dunn. Joined the Greens in 1991. Has worked as a fringe theatre actress and studied history at the Open University. She lives in Finchley with her husband, Donald.

CHRISTIAN PEOPLE’S ALLIANCE: Clement Adebayo
. Represents the fringe party that bases its policies on a belief in Jesus Christ and Evangelical Christianity as the answer to society’s ills.

UK INDEPENDENCE PARTY: Magnus Neilsen. His party is a home for far right views: they are virulently anti-European and treat environmental issues with scepticism. He lives in West Hampstead.

LIB-DEMS: Nick Russell. Works with private companies organising motivational and “internal communication” courses. Says he has pounded the streets for the Liberals since he was 13. He lives in West Hampstead.

ENGLISH DEMOCRATS: David Stevens. Represents the English nationalist party campaigning for an English parliament, along the lines of the devolved Scottish parliament and Welsh assembly.

VERITAS: Graham Dare. Standing for the party formed by MP turned TV presenter Robert
Kilroy-Silk. Veritas is anti-European, want strict controls on immigration and an aggressive stance when it comes to dealing with crime and social problems.
