Panthers win emphatic victory

Camden & Islington Youth League

THE Panthers of Regent’s Park roared to the top of the Under-11s ‘B’ League on Friday following their emphatic victory over AC Juniors at Market Road.
Regent’s Park struggled to break down a well-organised Juniors defence early on but finally made the break through two minutes before the interval when Alexander von Daehne’s deflected shot was tapped in by Cillian Davies.
The Panthers doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time when left-back Sam Ridley embarked on one of his trademark attacking runs and smashed home the second.
Regent’s Park ran riot after the break with Cillian completing his hat-trick, and winger Veton Derguti bagging two. Ricky Louch and von Daehne were also on target as the Panthers ran out 8-1 winners. The result leaves Regent’s Park two points ahead of Crown & Manor at the top of the table, with Chapel Boys a further point behind but with a game in hand.
Meanwhile in the Under-9s North Division Isledon Wolves were denied a point in their thrilling encounter against Harbour when Eliezer Kafuti’s shot rebounded back off the crossbar.
Harbour raced into a 3-0 lead but goals from player of the match Kafuti and Jason Rice brought Wolves back into the game. Wolves finished just short of the mark, beaten by the odd goal in five.
