Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 10 April 2008

Avoiding terrorism

• COUNCILLOR Faruque Ansari’s focus (How to keep youth out of terrorists’ arms, March 13) and comparison of Prince Harry to would-be British Asian Jihadists, overlooks youths from poor or average families, serving in the armed forces – who do not get special treatment.
Britain should not tailor its foreign policy, law or armed forces to appease disaffected Asian youths.
The idea of new regiments exclusive to British Asians only serves to perpetuate a separate or parallel society that some expect to live in.
The lights were turned off on the Empire, and they would be switched on again.
