Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 3 April 2008

Travellers behaving badly

• I NOTE there is a very strong move afoot to remove travel passes from badly behaved young people.
Who will make this distinction?
I do hope it isn’t at the bus drivers’ discretion alone. Some are absolutely lovely but some are decidedly not.
Will this threat to remove a travel privilege extend to badly-behaved pensioners?
For, given the attitude of some drivers, I am definitely one of those thus threatened. Two weeks ago as I was about to leave a bus the doors were locked and I was beckoned to the front.
I only knew this because passengers began to shout at me.
I said: “I can’t actually see you.”
At the front of the bus I had my bus pass searched and scrutinised and so did my daughter..
Despite sending a query to London Transport, I have still had neither an acknowledgement nor an explanation.
The driver didn’t think she owed me an explanation and there was no problem when we got on the bus.
Why then did she find it necessary to seal me on the bus with passengers waiting to get on.
I remain mystified and a little cross.
