Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 27 March 2008

Ideal location for traders hit by the fire

• IT'S all well and good that the traders affected by the February Camden Town fire have our sympathy and there is talk of compensation.
But what would really benefit the traders more than words or politicians seeking a photo opportunity is somewhere to trade from. The Camden Stables Market is undergoing massive redevelopment, so I do not think there is much they could offer.
Most of the other market sites in the area are fully booked or inappropriate.
So I would like to suggest the usage of the glass-fronted, two-storey site near the bridge. This site was formerly occupied by FOPP records and is currently empty.
It would not take much to remove or adapt the existing shop fittings.
Also it’s an ideal location right by a chain coffee store.
And the glass building is in keeping with the recent developments in the area.
I see this as a temporary option that would benefit many and I hope that the concerned parties could help to realise this idea.
